Livestock Relief Coalition

The
Oklahoma Sheriffs' Association is a recent Charter and Executive
Committee Member of the Oklahoma Livestock Relief Coalition.
Recognizing
that the current drought and hay shortage may result in
unprecedented numbers of neglected and starving livestock, the
Oklahoma Livestock Relief Coalition was formed with the mission of
providing an opportunity for concerned citizens to donate funds
which will be used to respond to the immediate needs of law
enforcement in the State of Oklahoma with large animal neglect,
abuse, and abandonment cases. Donated funds will be used to provide
feed and reasonable emergency care for seized animals during the
initial thirty (30) days phase of these cases. View the
guidelines of the
Oklahoma Livestock Relief Coalition.
If you know of
someone who would like to make a monetary donation to the fund, they can
contact the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Foundation a 501(c)3 at
www.okvma.org or send to OVMF, PO Box 14521, Oklahoma City, OK
73113. All money raised will go directly to the OLRC fund.

UPDATE 2/3/2012: During the Oklahoma
Veterinary Medical Association Conference last week they held a
silent auction to raise funds for the Oklahoma Livestock Relief
Coalition. We received the following information from Dr. Carey
Floyd that they had raised close to $20,000.00 during the auction.
All of this will go into the coalition fund for the benefit of law
enforcement. Congratulations to Dr. Floyd and all of the members of
the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association and those who
participated in the auction for a fantastic start to this fund.

Surplus Property
The Association has agreed to distribute surplus law
enforcement property for the state and
Sheriffs. Below you will
find links to the items that we have in stock along with those items
located at Sheriffs offices across the state. There is no charge for
the items located at the OSA and are on a first come first serve basis. The
association request that you pick the items up at our office as we
cannot ship them to your location. We also suggest that you give us
a call about the availability of any item as this list may change
before the next posting. We encourage all Sheriffs to consider
offering their surplus property to a fellow Sheriff as a opposed to
selling it for pennies on the dollar. Remember the old saying "one
mans trash is another mans treasure".
